Dark times are upon us. Scary, right?
Wrong! It’s awesome!
This month sees the release of the highly anticipated Dark Mode in iOS 13, which made us think about our online proofing software notification emails and how they roll in Dark Mode.
Mac OS Mojave, released in 2018, already has Dark Mode and now it’s time for Apple’s mobile operating system to join it. And it’s going to be popular.
When you install iOS 13, one of the first options you will see when it boots up is the option to select Light Mode or Dark Mode.
So you can bet your bottom dollar a big bunch of upgraders will turn to the dark side. We all did. And it’s a true black background, which looks great on OLED screens.
In our GoProof online proofing software we wanted to make sure all your collaborators are able to view their proof notifications clearly in both Light and Dark Mode, so we jumped on the chance to give our email templates a refresh to be compatible with both modes.
In the new template design, we’ve purposely kept it simple to make the action button stand out. We’ve stripped out the header area and simplified the layout so it’s easier for eyes to process the words and made it look less like a newsletter.
Whichever mode is in use, the orange button is strong and instantly grabs attention, helping you drive more engagement from your collaborators that use Apple devices.
You don’t need to do anything in your GoProof system to allow dark mode to naturally work for our email notifications. Just carry on as normal and let the collaborator decide how they want to see it using their native device settings.
If you use our custom email templates we rolled out back in October 2016, you might want to take a look at your brand style and how it’s translated into Dark Mode.
It could be that your email templates might benefit from a tweak or two but that’s totally up to you obviously, depending on your brand strategy.
To change between viewing content in Light and Dark Mode on your iPhone running iOS 13, open the Settings app and tap Display & Brightness from the third grouped section.
Right at the top, the two options are presented to you, so just tap the one you want and then go back to your email and it will transform into the other mode.
We’re always here to help if you need it, so feel free to get in touch.
Enjoy Dark Mode emailing in GoProof!
